Miss Technology Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, founded by a current Purdue student and TJHSST alum, which uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security, and a large variety of other technology and engineering topics to increase middle schoolers' interest in the fields. Only about a quarter of computer science degrees are earned by girls and it is important that an interest is promoted and encouraged at a young age. Many girls lose an already existent passion because of the discouragement or the idea that it’s “not a girl thing.” The main goal as a foundation is to turn this around and work to close the gender gap, but this doesn't mean we have to restrict teaching to just girls. It means to make girls more comfortable in an environment where they have to work with boys as well. Although our competitions are only for girls, our classes and workshops are open to everyone - we encourage everyone to learn these skills!
